Many Ways to Keep Up With GAFCON News
There will be many options for keeping up with the latest news and events from the Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON) in Jerusalem, June 22–29.
Video, audio, press statements, transcripts and primary documents will be posted throughout the week on the main GAFCON website at www.gafcon.org.
Throughout the week, www.acn-us.org will be posting first-hand accounts of events from Anglican Communion Network pilgrims and leadership. “Approximately 130 North Americans, many from Anglican Communion Network affiliated parishes and dioceses are participating in GAFCON. We will be giving them opportunities to share their impressions of this important event throughout the week,” said the Rev. Peter Frank, director of communications for the Anglican Communion Network.
Many independent media sources are also coming to Jerusalem to cover GAFCON. Among them is Kevin Kallsen, founder of AnglicanTV, a web-based non-profit video news organization. Kallsen, who has independently covered Anglican events for years, is also the senior warden of the Network parish of New Hope Anglican Church in Watertown Connecticut, which is under the care of Bishop Bill Murdoch.
“AnglicanTV’s mission… has been to document the realignment of the Anglican Communion. Having attended primates meetings, diocesan conventions, Network Councils, and the Common Cause Council of Bishops, our coverage would be incomplete without being in Jerusalem as well,” said Kallsen.
Kallsen expects to livestream GAFCON sessions around the world over the internet, interview pilgrims coming to Jerusalem from all over the Anglican Communion and archive the conference on the web for the future.
Kallsen’s video will be constantly updated beginning on June 22 at www.anglicantv.org.
Scores of mainstream journalists and webloggers will be covering the conference as well, said Frank. “There is no question that GAFCON will be a major news story, attracting all kinds of coverage – both fair and biased, positive and negative. We here in Jerusalem will do our best to keep Jesus the main focus,” said Frank.
